The Poulenc concerto was performed by the "del Valle Duo", made up of the brothers Luis and Victor who have been playing together, officially since 2004. This duo turned the Poulenc score into a multi-nuanced work, with moments of really wonderful artistic quality coming from their hands. Poulenc himself composed it in such a way as to allow it to be performed according to several different interpretations, moving between rhythmic and thematic changes that have had many different sources and inspirations. As a result, we hear suggestions of and allusions to Bach, Mozart or Chopin, and its interpretation requires some knowledge of several forms and styles and their subsequent musical conjunction. This duo's performance achieved a perfect re-creation, as the result of studying the parts and details and then interlinking them in an indivisible whole.

CLEAVING THE SEAS OF SOUND WITH FOUR HANDS

Time is a vast sea full of underwater currents that at times rock us and at others dash us against the rocks. Amid this shipwreck, music turns immersion into a magical dance, a harmonious balsam that can alleviate loss and transform time into a place which, though still mysterious, seems a little more human.

Yesterday, in the Marcos Redondo Conservatory, the sound of the piano tamed this savage force and had us floating on the waves of time as if the sea no longer existed, as if it had only been created in order to become a melody. The ones to bewitch us in this fashion were Victor and Luis del Valle, brother pianists who interwove their mastery as performers with four hands.
